This camp is designed for the student hoping to compete in speech and/or team policy debate for the first time. There are two camps: Speech Camp and Debate Camp. Students are welcome to join just debate, just speech, or both!

We plan to cover the basics of speech and debate. Time will also be given to discuss Team Policy and Lincoln Douglas debate through the Stoa rules. Students will be ready to compete in Stoa for the 2024-2025 season. The debate camp will end with a practice debate round for the students. Non-competitive students who just want to learn the basics of debate and argumentation are welcome, too!

On the speech side, class time will be split between lectures and student activities to familiarize students with various speech types. On the debate side, a combination of lectures and small group sessions will familiarize students with the resolution and building effective affirmative and negative cases.
